I am the full-time youth pastor at Alexandra Covenant Church in Alexandria, Minnesota, where I serve an incredible group of students with an outstanding team of adult youth leaders. My wife and I moved here from Dallas, Texas, in February 2006 and love watching the Lord work through us with these teenagers. My wife’s blog is at DanaSchmoyer.com.
Technology and web development have always been a hobby of mine since my family got our first computer in 1993. Combine that with my passion for seeing teenagers grow in their relationship with Christ and over a decade of youth ministry experience, you have this site, Life In Student Ministry.
After serving for a couple years in a small church with almost no youth ministry budget, I know the frustration of not being able to afford resources and training for myself, my volunteers and the ministry in general. That’s why everything on this site is free, just because I want to bless you and your ministry to teenagers.

Other projects
Besides Life In Student Ministry, I also have a couple other web projects.
- MinistryQuestions.com is a community of ministry workers online who invest into each other by asking questions, answering them, giving advice, support and encouragement.
- MinistryWebsites.biz is a small business that provides state-of-the-art websites in very user-friendly system for ministries. Proceeds there help keep the content at Life In Student Ministry free.
- OnlineMissionsTrip.com is a “missions trip to Facebook” where youth groups all over the world join together to make an intentional effort for two weeks to share Christ with their unsaved friends using social media.
- PlugRug.com is a site where people can submit links to ministry resources and the community of users vote it up or down, just like Digg.com.
