These are both great resources. We had a retreat in November and went through the Go Wide material, and as well we handed out a copy of Dare2Share: A Field Guide to Sharing Your Faith to every student that attended the retreat.
Tim, another great resource from D2S is Greg's book "You're Next." When you get a chance to read it (amongst all the reading you already have) I highly recommend getting it and even giving a copy to all your students.

@ Jeff: That feedback is actually very helpful. The only way I can know if something is actually worth recommending or not is to try it myself and there's no way I can (or want to) test everything out there. So when I use something and it works, I definitely pass it on. When something good comes up that I think could be beneficial to readers but not to me, instead of blindly putting my stamp of approval on it, I ask them to contribute to Life in Student Ministry as a guest blogger on the subject/need that their product or service addresses. For example, I don't use Tuggle.it, don't have a need for it and thereby can't personally vouch for the service, but I think it could be valuable to some of you guys. So, the Building online Christian community for your youth group series was written by one of the Tuggle guys and I linked to their service in the footer. That way they're contributing something, as well. Oddly enough, most people turn down this option. *shrugs*

Hi Tim,

I think one of the main reasons I read your blog is to be exposed to new resources and ways of doing ministry. I loved your Tools I use in youth ministry series so much that I stole the idea for my blog. I don't want you to do all ads, but when you use a resource that works well, I would love to know about it.

Thanks for the great tips,
-Jeff-

I would 2nd Tim's comments and reviews of D2S's GOSPEL Journey kit. In need of confronting our h.s. students with the importance of knowing the full Gospel and urgency to share it with friends, we picked up the Journey and it was a huge success. The sessions are long, but engaging to students. We kicked the series off at our winter retreat and showed the first 4 sessions there (ie. captive audience) and finished them the following 4 weeks during our normal Wed. night meetings. The key in using these is to have some intentional small group discussions after the videos to discuss the content. My leaders were floored by the depth of questions being asked by students and how they were beginning to understand the Gospel in a new light.

Side note: Greg recently wrote "Venti Jesus Please" - a small outreach-like book that compliments well with the GOSPEL Journey. We passed these out after our retreat and are encouraging our students to pass them on to their friends and have discussions about them. It's been good, and our students are beginning to see how they can share their faith and be more bold.
