I’m trying the twitter badge on my site. Just to see what it is like. I was thinking you could use it within a church staff to update each other on progress of projects or things like that. Well, I can’t. We still have dial-up (can’t get highspeed where we’re at, at least not yet).

it’s fantastic… and they don’t actually have the verse ref… just the verse… but that’s cool… it makes you try and remember where it’s from… and it comes at a random time during the day… always unexpected!

Maybe I’m still a Twitter noob, but I wish there was a way for me to reply back to people’s updates. Some of them just demand a smart alec response, ya know? :)

I’m not sure I’ll be use Twitter for announcements here anytime soon. According to Twittermap.com, there’s only one other person within a 100 mile radius from me that uses Twitter. Ahh yes, I’m a pioneer! lol

Maybe I’ll put a Twitter badge in the sidebar of my blog here. Hmmm….

I think there is a lot of potential in twitter for ministry. As you said it can be an updater for announcements and such for your own group, as well as sending out multiple “memory” verses during the day. It can also be used to refer your “watchers” to good articles/blog entries as you come across them. It doesn’t have to be an exclusive “i’m walking the dog,” “now i’m eating a sandwich,” and “now I’m going to the bathroom.” I’m using twitter right now just to talk back and forth and meet new people. I think as it catches on more and more the uses will become more obvious as well.

Who cares? Do you mean people don’t want to know what I had for lunch or if I am suffering from nasal drip?

I think if folks in your church use this as a social network, you get on it. Otherwise, save bandwidth for other’s BLT or Caesar Salad.
