Are free youth ministry resources helping us? [video]

Last weekend I had the opportunity to hang out with Luke Trouten, a youth worker in my area, and see some of the cool things God’s doing in their ministry.

While hanging out, we talked about free youth ministry resources and asked the question, “Are they really helping us in ministry or are they enabling us to just move from one free lesson to the next without really thinking through what we’re teaching and why?” We discussed it a bit in the video below. We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

  • Hey Tim,
I just watched the video post, first I want to say thanks for the time you put in and everything you offer. For me free resources help tremendously! I am not a full time youth pastor, so I have to work a full time job outside of church. Monday through Friday I work from 40-45 hours a week as a design Engineer, and then work another 10-15 hours a week on youth ministry. Free resources help me in getting the foundation of a message or series for my group set. I usually try to modify it to target our group better, but it saves me a lot of time at the beginning. Also, we have a $0 youth budget, so for the most part anything I purchase comes from my own pocket. Needless to say free resources are a big blessing!!

It is with anything. Some people will use it and others will abuse it. I don't think providing it is a bad thing, it is up to the person how, when and if they want to use the free resources.

    • Yeah, that's kinda what I'm thinking, too. Thanks, Johnny.
