Need your input on a web resource for youth workers

Tomorrow I will be joining a couple other youth workers and content providers in a round-table discussion about how we can best serve youth workers online. Since we’ll be talking about you, it only seems fitting that we get your input before we head into the conversation.

Could you take a minute or two to answer these questions in the comments below?

  1. The best web-based resource for youth workers and all those interested in the spiritual formation of adolescents must have components/options/features such as _______________.
  2. When it comes to curriculum, youth workers are looking for content that is ____________________.
  3. When it comes to the look and design, I think it is important for a resource site to ____________________.
  4. If we were going to build a subscription based web solution for youth workers from scratch it would look like ________________.
  5. I am surprised that youth ministry resourcing companies are not already providing _________________.

Thanks for your input!

  • The best web-based resource for youth workers and all those interested in the spiritual formation of adolescents must have components/options/features such as easy search by topic, script and supplies.
When it comes to curriculum, youth workers are looking for content that is easy to use and impliment.
When it comes to the look and design, I think it is important for a resource site to look and design aren't things that I would rate a site for. I would look more for ease of use. There are lots of OLDER youth workers out there that aren't real HIP and DOWN with websites and website designs and are just looking for sites that we can go to and find what we want quickly and easily.
If we were going to build a subscription based web solution for youth workers from scratch it would look like no idea what this means.
I am surprised that youth ministry resourcing companies are not already providing back massages?

    2. When it comes to curriculum, youth workers are looking for content that is scalable to where there students are.
    3. When it comes to the look and design, I think it is important for a resource site to KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid..) – If I can't find it, it doesn't matter.
    4. If we were going to build a subscription based web solution for youth workers from scratch it would look like – Dunno – My budget doesn't allow for those….
    5. I am surprised that youth ministry resourcing companies are not already providing a service like YS did with the Exchange that people would actually use….

    5. I am surprised that youth ministry resourcing companies are not already providing a good forum where youth ministers can bounce ideas off of each other.

  • I agree with all the 1- 4 answers

    5. I am surprised that a youth ministry resourcing companies are not already providing——mp3 based (ipod friendly) introduction to Christianity with daily bites of understanding explaining what has taken place in their lives and how to get growing. A help for changing habits along with a guide for a mentor or student leader to have weekly follow ups to help encourage them through the beginning steps of being a believer where so many get swallowed in the daily grind.
Just a thought i'm no guru.

    1) Video Tutorials
    2) Biblically Solid and simple to understand and grasp.
    3) Clean and Simple
    4) Apple's
    5) A Lot of FREE stuff!!!! hahahahahah

  • 1. social-media friendly. emailable. editable. don't require volunteers to login.
    2. quick, easy, online, free, takes another thing off of my plate.
    3. simplicity. navigation. intuitive.
    4. i think how leadnet does their communities, free resourcing, and groups working through the same stuff together (church planting, executive pastors, etc.) would be incredibly beneficial to uplift youth workers who are in similar settings & expectations.

    1. The best web-based resource for youth workers and all those interested in the spiritual formation of adolescents must have components/options/features such as _searchable content, material that has been tested, resources for all sized ministries, idea sharing
    2. When it comes to curriculum, youth workers are looking for content that is easy to use, relevant, complete from start to finish (I'm part time and don't have time to completely rewrite or add to curriculum) tweakable, Biblical.
    3. When it comes to the look and design, I think it is important for a resource site to be simple! If I can't find something I leave the site and go elsewhere! Make it logical to search for things.
    4. If we were going to build a subscription based web solution for youth workers from scratch it would look like I don't have much budget for that, so it has to be complete. I don't want to have to buy other things, like buy this curriculum or skit etc. Keep it simple rather than slick. When I work from home I don't have broadband. I live in a rural area. I don't bother with tons of flash and waiting for things to download. I don't have the bandwith nor the time.
    5. I am surprised that youth ministry resourcing companies are not already providing complete resource sharing.
