Taking blame or credit in ministry

Posted on October 17, 2006 by Tim Schmoyer | Print This Post Print This Post

Mark Batterson blogged this quote from a seminar lab by Craig Groeschel at the Catalyst Conference.

His student group grew backwards and someone said to him, “If you blame yourself for the decline you’ll be tempted to take credit for the incline!”

What an interesting perspective.

A geeat comment – Everytime I am tempted to take credit for our youth team I am reminded of how it all started – 1 non-Christian kid with a bit of an interest brought 4 of his mates to an introductory Bible study and we had an instant youth group. All God and absolutely nothing from us – except a bit of prayer and readiness to act.

I think though we should always and prayerfully be critically reassessing what is happening and why. Shrinking numbers as well as growth.
