Tired of Da Vinci Code hype

Is this whole Da Vinci Code thing starting to wear out anyone else besides me? Personally, I’m getting pretty tired of the whole ordeal. The movie hasn’t even come out yet and it already feels like an old beaten-up subject. Some Christians wonder why any believer would even expose themselves to such material while others are swearing it’s the best thing for the church since hymnals. Although I’ll work through the curriculum we purchased for youth group Sunday school, I’ll be glad when all the hype wears off.

At least Barna reports that the Da Vinci Code is confirming people’s religious views, not changing them. I’m glad to see the good that is apparently coming out of all this.

  1. links from Technorati [IMG ] After reading Tim’s blog (http://www.studentministry.org/2006/05/17/tired-of-da-vinci-code-hype/), it has really helped me realize how desperate Christian culture can be at times. Is it just me or does it seem like Christians are constantly waiting for the next big Hollywood hit that can be used as a ministry tool? Granted, it does make it easier

I agree. I hit da Vinci overload about a week ago. Everything now is anticlimatic. Everything that needs to be said has been said. I’ll answer questions that come from it but I certainly and ready to move onto other things!

Amen! Especially for those who think it’s bad. They have given the movie tons of publicity.

On the news this morning I heard them saying how they took a lot of the action out of the movie, so it’s not going to be as good as the book. I think I’ve heard something about the Da Vinci Code on the news every day this week.

ps. I love you and can’t wait to see you today! It feels like it’s been forever since we’ve seen each other.

Sometimes it kills me how much Christians feel the need to “sieze the moment” when it comes to Hollywood productions. Do you really think Jesus needs Hollywood to start a movement? Or is it just because we are too lazy to spread the gospel without a pop culture hook? Ugh.

  7. Jeremy says:

    Tim,

I will be in Dallas Friday visiting a coulple that i know who just moved down there from Moody. I’ll give you more info through email…the Da Vinci Code is probably one of the greatest attacks on our faith, but i do agree that we have heard enough about it. We just need to keep in truth for God’s Word is truth!!
