Yesterday in our LIVE Youth Ministry Conversation Jason Lamb of Dare 2 Share Ministries lead us in a discussion about the Deep and Wide Ministry model. We ran through a quick overview of what it is and what it isn’t, and then talked about ways to implement it in our ministries. Toward the end we also discussed some of the common objections and problems people have with the Deep and Wide Ministry model.
If you’re not familiar with Deep and Wide, I recommend that you first download and read the thesis from Dare 2 Share’s website. If you have questions that were not discussed in the recording below, Jason Lamb is happy to make himself available to you. Check out his blog at deepnwide.wordpress.com and follow him on Twitter. Or, contact him directly via email: jasonlamb@dare2share.org.

I thought it was a great time of discussion. And I appreciate Jason’s insights on the D&W. Thanks for hosting it Tim!

bummer…..unfortunately, i had an unexpected ministry item come up so i was not able to make the conversation.
i was so amped to participate.
looks like it was a great conversation and Jason briefly addressed one of my biggest objections to deep and wide.

I enjoyed the conversation again. It was good to hear from Jason – some of the things he brought up were concerns that I had emailed him about when I first got into the deep and wide philosophy of ym. One thing to remember is that it’s just a model and a method – not means. It is all worthless if the Holy Spirit isn’t leading you in it all. As long as we keep God the leader of our ministries, then the model doesn’t matter quite as much. It’s all about focus. Thanks again

i am curious to why Greg didn’t do the interview/discussion, since he was the one who authored it? Don’t get me wrong sounds like Jason knew his stuff, but why no Greg?

@jeremy zach: Greg’s a busy guy. He highly recommended Jason.

Hey , Did I hear you right that you no longer have any kind of activity.
And your students only want to study the bible?

@Rob C. Yes and no. It was definitely that way through our Gospel Journey series and has never rebounded back to the “fun and games” mentality it used to be, but to say that the teens don’t want to play games or have fun at all isn’t true. It used to be an hour of games, half hour of Bible study. Now it’s 20-30 minutes of games, 1 hour of Bible study. The pendulum has shifted back, but not nearly back to where it used to be.
