What is with the advertising all the time. I feel like that is a type of selling out, don't we get bomb barded enough with advertising everywhere else. I feel like this is a place where we are looking to grow in our ministry and learn, which I appreciate, but I am getting really tired of the commercials.

    • Thanks for that feedback, BLJ! Honestly, this is really something I struggle with — everything from having ads on this site that clutter and distract from the real content to the video bumpers. I would prefer to have no advertising at all, but unfortunately this site requires funds to operate. It takes a minimum of $200 a month to keep this site running, plus funds for improvements and future development. I can't afford to take that from my own pocket, so I must have advertising somewhere. I work hard to keep everything else free, including Freebie Friday and the 10-week one-on-one mentorships, which means that I need to use ads to pay for it. If you have ideas for other ways to generate revenue to keep the other resources of this site online, please share! I'm always open to new ideas. Thanks!

      • I think you've proven yourself as a man of integrity, Tim. I thankful for the content and don't mind the ads at all. It's just my hope that they are enough to keep this awesome site alive.

  • yeah…the commercials/ advertising sucks. But…this isn't someone's blog. This is a useful site that hosts alot of information. I understand the need to hold 3 years of videos on ministry…. you could do it somewhere else for free…but it wouldn't be the same. Tim, thanks for finding a way to keep sharing these ministry nuggets. I wouldn't use this site if i had to pay probably…so the price is right and the advertising works for me.

  • yeah the ad stuff is a pain…but given what you provide of your time, talent and resources Tim its worth the inconvenience. just like many of the other online social networking tools we all use…its just become part of the effort. free markets tend to bring this stuff along. if this site was its own silo and we had to pay to have access it would be a different story. there are no free lunches…someone has to pay, i'm grateful you've leveraged your good work to make it self-sustaining. keep up the great Kingdom work.

I am going to admit. I use adblocker plus on firefox so i don't see most ads. Sorry Tim. I guess I am stealing.

Yea I don't know that I've ever really noticed ads that much here. I'm actually surprised that you get paid what you do from the adds considering I never really pay attention to them.

  • I think the advertising is very minimal unless I"m missing something. Go to almost any other "Major" Youth Ministry website and you'll find the same thing. I don't mind it a bit. I'm very thankful for this resource and I've gotten a ton of ideas and encouragement through LISM and the Podcast.

Keep up the good work Tim!
