Podcast: Effects of extra-curricular activities on youth ministry

Topic / Podcasts

Yesterday in our LIVE Youth Ministry Conversation Brian Ford let a very good discussion on why teenagers often make youth group as their last priority. Sometimes it feels that sports, work, relationships, even TV shows, all come before their commitment to body of believers. Both Brian and some of the other youth workers who participated in the conversation had a lot of good insights about what shapes teenagers’ priorities. We also talked about some ideas for how we can address this in our youth ministries.

If this is something your ministry struggles with, I highly recommend you listen to this frank and honest discussion on why kids make youth group their last priority.

No discussion next week

October 10th: Next week I will be in California liveblogging Youth Specialties’ National Youth Workers Convention, so there will be no LIVE YM Talk. However, the week after that, October 17, Chris Day will talk with us about “How to minister to parents of unchurched kids in our youth groups.” In the past he worked with a youth ministry that consisted mostly of unbelievers and un-churched parents. We’ll learn both from his mistakes and his advice.
