Podcast: What every youth worker can learn from urban youth ministry

Posted on January 23, 2010 by Tim Schmoyer | Print This Post Print This Post

LIVE Youth Ministry TalkLast Monday we spent Martin Luther King Jr. holiday talking about urban youth ministry, diversity, and what the rest of the youth ministry world can learn from those working with inner-city teenagers. Our featured guests were Adam McLane and Eric Iverson. Eric has been doing youth ministry in an urban context for decades and brought a lot of good reminders to the table about what the rest of us can learn from it.

Some of the things we talked about:

  • The importance of building trust quickly and how to do it
  • Good versus bad reasons for doing youth ministry
  • How contextual ministry morphs our view of theology
  • Handling ministry events with low-income and no budget
  • And a whole lot more…

You can listen to the whole conversation below or grab it in iTunes.
